Workington programme cover The Tigers lead by 13 points from the first leg although the Comets home form is good and they could easily turn that around. Mark Thompson breaks down en-route and the Tigers press David Speight into action as a last minute replacement. Ricky wins the toss for gate positions, and then out gated Garry Stead to win heat 1. Ben Wilson resists Moggo's challenges for a couple of laps to extend the aggregate lead. The Comets guest reserves lead heat 2 with Craig Branney shepherding Danny Warwick until Cooperman managed to pick him off. Kyle Legault won a closely contested heat 3 ahead of Rusty Harrison and Emiliano Sanchez but Tomasz Piszcz trailed well behind on Moggo's bike. James Wright led heat 4 from Kauko Nieminen until the Tigers guest ground to a halt on the second lap. Danny Warwick put the Comets ahead by passing David Speight at the end of lap 3. Ricky trapped ahead of Rusty to win heat 5 and Ben left it late passing Tomasz for third place on the last lap. Scores are level on the night, Tigers 13 ahead on aggregate.

Kauko steams under the Comets pair out of turn two to lead heat 6, but it's short lived as Garry passes him on the inside on the third turn. James Wright wins heat 7 from Kyle and Craig Branney looks good for third place until Emiliano passes him on the last turn of the third lap. Ben traps and speeds away to win heat 8 but the Comets pick up the minor places to share the heat. Kauko passes Rusty at the end of the first lap to win heat 9 and Cooperman accepts a point ahead of the pedestrian Tomasz Piszcz and the scores are level once more. The Comets trap ahead in heat 10 and Garry Stead thwarts every move by Kyle for the home sides second 5-1 and a four point lead. The Tigers aggregate lead is down to 9 points with five heats remaining.

Ricky and Ben redress the balance with a tapes to flag win in heat 11 although Wrighty never stops trying all the way to the line. Cooperman shows first in heat 12 but carves up team mate Kyle on the first bend. Paul holds of Piszcz for the win and although Kyle never makes up lost ground the three points put the Tigers through to the semi-finals. Heat 13 was restarted after Garry and Ricky tangled on turn one. The Tigers lead but Garry battles his way under Kauko in the second turn, and takes the lead on the fourth turn on the second lap. Emiliano leaves it until the last lap of heat 14 to pass Rusty and just holds on at the finish for another shared heat. Garry Stead is the easy winner of heat 15 although Ricky and Ben knew they already done enough.

With the exception of last minute stand-in David Speight all the Tigers picked up heat wins and they have deservedly earned themselves another two pay cheques. Glasgow beat the Isle of Wight in the second leg at Ashfield on Sunday but it's the Islanders who finished ahead on aggregate and will meet us in the semi-finals.
