An awesome (quote N.Machin) away performance by the Tigers who gave the high riding Rebels a lesson in gating at the Oak Tree Arena. Glenn Cunningham saluted the victors saying we were the first team to visit them this year who had ridden all the right lines right from the word go.

The Tigers took the lead right from the start with Magnus Zetterstrom suffering an engine failure. Paul Cooper got the better of Ben Barker in heat 2 and Kyle and Emiliano shared heat 3 by outpacing Paul Fry. André won heat 4 with Ben Barker and Glenn Cunningham filling the minor placings, but Ricky and The British U21 champion took another 1-5 in heat 5 to open a six point lead.

Magnus bounced back to win heat 6 but André and Cooperman maintained the Tigers lead, and while Glenn won heat 7 this time it was Emiliano and Kyle packing the minor placings. Ben Wilson won heat 8 from Ben Barker and Glenn Phillips but the Rebels clawed two points back with Paul Fry winning heat 9 from André and Stephan Katt heading Cooperman for the Rebels first heat advantage. Kyle and Emiliano shared heat 10 behind Magnus Zetterstrom and the Tigers led by 4 points.

Ricky and Ben delivered a punishing blow by heading Glenn Cunningham in heat 11, and when Kyle and Cooperman delivered another 1-5 in heat 12 the match was virtually in the bag. Magnus attempted to revitalize the Rebels in heat 13 with a six point tactical win, but Emiliano and Paul put the verdict beyond reach as they shared heat 14 ahead of Simon Walker. Zetters won the nominated heat from Ricky with Glenn finishing third ahead of the previously unbeaten Ben Wilson but the Tigers were already basking in the glow of their first away League victory of the year.

The following comment is taken from the Somerset forum (with Swedebasher's permission); "Got to say a big well done to Sheffield tonight, they were really up for it and Ben Wilson, Ricky Ashworth and Kyle Legault were nothing short of superb, the others were also fantastic and take nothing away from Benji he really tried his heart out. A wonderful meeting to watch and yes there were a couple of mechanical misfortunes for Somerset but Sheffield were the better side and thoroughly deserved their win."
