Workington programm Track - Excellent considering afternoon rain.
Crowd - Very poor, main stand less than half full, first bend and back straight very quiet. The halcyon days of Stoney have truly disappeared at Dodge City.
Weather - Showery all afternoon but fine during the meeting.

After the great win at Redcar on Friday night, the Sheffield Window Centre Tigers went into the meeting at Dodge City with expectations of a decent result against an inform Comets team. Track looked like normal before the start of the meeting despite the drizzle and light showers throughout the afternoon. Coops wins the toss and Sheffield take gates 1 and 3.

Heat 1 saw a good gate from Ash to take a comfortable win over Andre. Skiddy takes 3rd for a 4-2 to Tigers. Heat 2 saw a comfortable 5-1 to the very powerful Comets reserve pair. Skiddy takes a fall on a tough first bend in Heat 3. Josh makes his usual woeful gate and chases after the Comets pair, he picks off both of them with ease, the out of control Chris Schramm falls off on lap 3 and retires giving the Comets a one point lead. Heat 4 saw another case of diabolical refereeing. Hally and Kildemand gate together and as Hally is about to pass him down the back straight the dirty Dane promptly turns right on him and stuffs him into the fence. Somehow the referee (Stuart Wilson from WORKINGTON!!!) excludes Hall, another unbelievably poor decision. Easy 5-1 to Worky in the re-run. Heat 5 sees a very easy 5-1 to the Tigers from Ash and Skiddy to cut the lead to one point.

Hally makes the gate in Heat 6 and goes on to win by the length of the straight over the Comets pair including former Tiger Andre Compton. Ash takes Pepe's ride in Heat 7 and gates into the lead over Kildemand and Auty, close race but from the gate, and the Tigers take the lead. Announcer says after the race that it was the race of the season, all I can say is there must have been some really crap racing at Derwent Park this year. Heat 8 sees a good ride from Skiddy for a tapes to flag win. Coops in 3rd and the Tigers lead by 3. Comets make the gate in Heat 9 and take an easy 5-1 to retake the lead by 1. Heat 10 saw Compton try to put Josh in the car park on the first bend, Josh passed him first lap then Harrison on last lap....Brilliant!!!!

Hally by a mile up front and the Tigers restore the 3 point lead. Heat 11 saw Kildemand make the gate and somehow managed to hold off a flying Ashworth. Skiddy takes 3rd for a 3-3. Tigers make the gate in Heat 12 but Coops is picked off by Schramm on lap 3. Josh wins by a mile and the Tigers extend the lead to 5 points. Heat 13 saw a typically ruthless first bend from Andre and he goes on to win from Ash and Kildemand. Tigers lead down to 3 points. Heat 14 saw another poor gate from Josh but he goes on to pass the other 3 riders and is in the lead at the end of lap 3. Another shared heat leaves a last heat decider with Tigers 3 points in front. Tigers importantly win the toss and take 1 and 3. Ash makes an electric gate and makes no mistake for the win. Josh gives his all trying to pass Andre but the 4-2 is more than enough for the Tigers to win to send the huge band of Tigers fans on the first bend into ecstasy and great celebrations......AWESOME!!!

All the Tigers played their part tonight, with Josh and Ash leading the way, with solid backup from the other boys and loads of effort. Coops was disappointed after the meeting with his own performance but he did some very nice first corners tonight which no doubt won us the meeting.

I've read since the meeting that some Worky riders didn't like the track tonight but it looked like it normally does on our previous visits there despite the earlier rain.....slick inside, some grip on the outside, so gawd knows what they were whinging about. Can't they just admit they lost to a better team!!!

Finally a mention for Ricky Ashworth. He's taken some criticism this year, but tonight he was truly outstanding and really led from the front. Well Done Ash!!!

My thanks to Chris for this match report.
