What a match! Swindon ten points down after seven heats, fought back to snatch a draw with a last heat 4-2. Guest, Tony Clarke won the crucial final heat to spoil Jim Airey's maximum and Barry Duke was involved in some fantastic tussles with Airey and Brian Maxted. This was certainly a race to be remembered.
Clive Hitch suffered teething troubles with a new machine and Mike Keen only rode once before his injured eye forced him to withdraw from the match.
