The Somerset track one week previously was as slick as the M5, but this week the deep grippy conditions caught out some home riders and suited the Tigers to a tee. Richard Hall was absent at a Longtrack meeting, and Sean was advised to rest his shoulder which he dislocated at Owlerton the night before. Their replacements didn't exactly set the track alight, but in the circumstances I don't think anyone will be complaining. Jamie Smith had a torrid time and the Rebels reserves only finished ahead of a Tiger in two heats all evening. After a strong finish the Rebels looked set to steal the match with a 5-1 in the last heat until Paul Fry picked up too much drive and clattered into the fence on turn two.

No individual star for the Tigers but a good all-round team effort which is a nice thing to report from an away fixture following recent matches. It is merely conjecture but I believe we would have done even better if Sean and Richard had been present. Ricky picked up a couple of wins including heat 9 after a race long scrap with Jason King which received praise from the terraces. André top scored (although teletext snubbed him) and Paul finished ahead of an ailing Magnus Zetterstrom for a 5-1 in heat 10. Heros of the day for me though, were Trevor with a very useful paid 9, and Ben with two heat wins including a first heat victory over the Rebels star No.1
