Two points down from the first leg the Tigers levelled the score when Ricky won heat 1 and Arthur
claimed third ahead of Jake. Arthur was pulled back for taking a flyer in heat 2 but did the same
in the rerun only for Rob to pass him on the second turn. James was slow away but never gave in and
passed Nathan on the last lap. Stuart traps to win heat 3 but Charles and Paul spend too much time
racing each other to worry about him. JoshG passes Kyle on the outside of the second turn to win heat
4 and James does the same to Nathan. JoshB breaks the tapes and is replaced by Arthur in heat 5. Charles
makes the gate but Ricky rounds him out of turn two and Paul passes Arthur on the third lap. The Rebels
lead by 2 on the night and 4 on aggregate, but after the Tigers heroics at bRough Park and north of the
border there were some anxious faces around the Oak Tree Arena.
Rohan wins heat 6 from the tapes while Kyle has his hands full staying ahead of Jake. JoshG is untroubled
winning heat 7 but the Tigers shut Rob out on the first bend and he never got back on terms. Kyle traps
to win heat 8 and Jake passes Arthur to pin the Rebels lead back to four. Kyle is out again in heat 9 and
trades the lead with Charles for a couple of laps before coming under pressure from Paul. Rohan traps to
win heat 10 but JoshB and Stuart mess each other up allowing Jake through for the Rebels first 5-1 and
suddenly the Rebels are sitting on a 10 point lead.
At the third attempt Ricky leads heat 11 but JoshG is quickly past and Rob follows suit passing Arthur.
Stuart traps to lead heat 12 and resists firm pressure from Charles while Arthur consolidates third to
keep faint hopes alive. Ricky and Kyle raisde the Tigers fans hopes with a lightning start to heat 13
but Rohan had passed them both by the third bend. JoshG went all out for glory and with a spectacular
burst split the Tigers pair to win both the race and the championship for the Rebels. With the pressure
off Paul and Rob romp home ahead of JoshB in heat 14. The Tigers gate in heat 15 but Paul passes them
both on the first lap and Rohan passes Stuart on the second lap and just fails to get Ricky on the run
to the line.
It would have been a travesty if Sheffield had won after finishing 20 league points behind in sixth
place in the league, but given how may riders they lost through injury (none at Owlerton) they did a
remarkable job in the closing stages of the season. All credit to the Rebels though who ran out deserved
champions.
