Stoke programme  The local press and programme notes seemed to be building this meeting into a grudge match with the Scorpions pinning great importance on finishing higher in the league than the Tigers. Ricky won the toss for the Tigers and selected gates 1 & 3 but it was David Howe who took a flyer on his way to winning heat 1. Josh Auty passed Viktor Bergstrom into turn three to slot in behind Hugh Skidmore and the heat was shared. Gary Irving was left stranded at the gate in heat 2 allowing Simon Lambert to swoop around Jan Graversen and into the lead out of the second turn. Tigers guest Alex Davies put in a sterling effort but couldn't force his way past Jan. Richard Hall and Josef Franc lead into turn one in heat 3 but Carl Wilkinson passes them both on the inside out of turn two just as Tero Aarnio blasts around them all on the outside. Josef keeps up the pressure and is rewarded as he reclaims second place at the start of the last lap. Richard goes for an inside pass out of the last turn but Carl blocks him and the pair take a tumble. Ricky Ashworth leads heat 4 but Magnus Karlsson passes him on the inside out of turn two. Ricky returns the favour at the start of the second lap but Magnus swoops back into the lead out of turn two and eases clear. Carl leads heat 5 but Hugh eases past Tero out of turn two before pulling an enormous wheelie out of turn four and falling on the start line. Josh rounds the field in the rerun to win by a country mile. Scores are locked at 15 all.

Ricky leads heat 6 but is pushed all the way by David. Alex went too wide on the second lap allowing Viktor through into second place for another shared heat. Josef and Richard get the drop to lead heat 7. Josef lets Richard fly around the outside while covering the inside line but was never troubled by Magnus. Jan got a flyer in heat 8 but Craig Ackroyd was having none of it. Hugh made a lovely job of the first two turns to lead the rerun and Simon passed Jan on the third lap to extend the Tigers lead. Ricky led heat 9 but Tero got sucked into the air fence on the second turn. Carl trapped in the rerun but was passed by Ricky out of turn two. Carl tried to dive under Ricky at the start of the second lap but they both ended up lying on the track. Tigers only for the third attempt putting them eleven point clear. Richard replied by nominating David for a tactical ride in heat 10. Richard makes a mess of turn one and is excluded. Something untoward happens in the pits between Richard and Viktor which results in a lengthy delay with paramedics and the referee visiting the pits. When the action recommences the Scorpions outpace Josef to claim a maximum 8-1 win and reduce the deficit to just four points.

Josh gated to lead heat 11 and was joined at the front thanks to a good second turn by Hugh passing both Jan and Magnus. Josef bounced back to lead heat 12 and Alex dives past Tero into the third turn for another Tigers 5-1. This time it's Magnus on a tactical but it's Ricky who gates ahead. Josh and David have a four lap scrap which David wins with a wide blast around the last turn. Carl rounds everyone on the second turn to lead heat 14 but Simon passes Jan on the third lap just before Jan fell. David and Carl for the Scorpions against Josef and Ricky. Ash destroys the tapes and earns himself a 15 metre handicap from which he never recovers.

A comprehensive victory for the Tigers who take all four league points.
