It was three years since the Tigers last visit to Ashby Ville. On that occasion Phil White had switched sides to top score for his old team as they went down to a last heat defeat. The Newcastle rider once again joined his old team with Ritchie Owen stepping down. Dave Morton was missing for the Tigers and his place was tken by Jan O Pedersen. Shawn Moran was about to defend his World Long Track crown in Germany and was in fine form claiming a paid maximum and inspiring the Tigers to a comfortable victory.

The Stags only recorded two race wins, one for guest Phil White and the other a track record breaker for Andy Buck! This concluded the home fixtures for the Stags although thay still had five away fixtures scheduled.
