Simon Stead off gate 3 let the field thunder into the first turn before switching back to the inside and led down the back straight. The 5-1 delighted the large contingent of Tigers fans. Josh(B)and Arthur made a dream start to lead heat 2. Ellis passed Arthur on the second turn of the second lap but Nike couldn't follow suite despite trying every inch of the track. Ashley strolled away to win heat 3 and Ty passed Alex on the last bend of the second lap to make it another 1-5. Josh(A) showed the track was fine as he sped away to win heat 4 and David(B) passed Arthur on the third lap while Nike was once again giving his all to no effect at the back. Simon won heat 5 with ease. Andre battled with Carl eventually passing him at the start of the third lap just after Alex pulled up with engine problems. At one-third of the match the Tigers are sitting pretty on a fourteen point lead and the 'Tigers on tour' are getting cheeky.

David(B) led heat 6 until some kind of mechanical problem saw him coast around the outside on the last lap and was passed by both David(H) and Josh (B). Josh(A) was on a tactical ride in heat 7 and he blasted around Ty on the second lap and pulled well clear. Ashley looked to have some problem and was never in contention. The Scorpions gated to lead heat 8 but Andre rounded Nike on the second bend and then dived past Theo exiting the fourth on the first lap. Ashley made no mistake to lead heat 10 and Ty joined him at the front with a magnificent swoop which took him past David(H) on the third turn and Theo out of the fourth on the first lap. Tigers fans are sweating at the two-thirds stage as their lead has been cut back to a mere thirteen.

Action from Scunthorpe The Tigers led down the back straight in heat 11 but Josh(A) scrapes the fence out of turn four and likewise into turn one to move from third to first and give the home fans something to shout about. Ashley and Josh(B) led heat 12 but couldn't decide who was taking which line and all the time Nike was snapping at their exhausts. Simon led heat 13 but Josh(A) went hard under him into the third turn and then took him wide resulting in Simon biting the dust. David tried his best in the rerun but found the Scorpions top two too much to handle. Josh(A) stalled on the start-line of heat 15 with seconds remaining and he earned himself a 15m handicap. Carl trapped ahead and did he best to slow the field down so Josh(A) was in the mix by the end of the first lap. David(B) and Josh(B) were not phased and stuck to their lines and Josh(A) had to go to extremes to make a pass and fell doing so on the third turn of the third lap (see picture).

The Tigers won this fixture last year, but then sank into obscurity so it's too early to crow. Rob Godfrey is desperate for bigger crowds so riders struggling for form may soon find themselves with a zero hours contract...
