Broc's best showing at Owlerton this year Danny Ayers seems to be in tip-top form at the moment and he led the way from the inside gate in heat 1. Danny King caught and passed Kasper Andersen on the inside entering turn 3. Kasper got a face full of shale and virtually stopped gifting Josh Auty third place. Danny King seemed reluctant to attempt an outside line and Danny Ayres stuck to the inside. Broc Nicol trapped ahead in heat 2 and was joined by Zaine Kennedy who shot under Ryan Kinsley out of turn 2. Half way down the back straight Ryan bounced off the fence in an ungainly mess and collected Alfie Bowtell in the process. Darren Hartley decided Zaine was the main protagonist? Broc made another tidy start in the rerun but Alfie only managed to reach the 3rd bend before tasting the shale again. Third time of asking and Broc makes it a hat-trick from the gate. Heat 3 sees the Scorpions pair make the gate and the home pair never got close. Not what you need from your third heat-leader on his home track. Jake Allen traps in heat 4 and Zaine finishes a race. Guest Todd Kurtz at least out paced Alfie but why when you have 7.57 to play with do you employ a guest whose average is currently 5.49? Ty Proctor trapped from the inside to lead heat 5 and Drew Kemp's outside momentum drew him level on the back straight. Did our third heat leader elect to team ride his young team mate? Left to his own devices Drew was eventually overhauled first by in form Danny Ayers and also by pedestrian Josh Auty on the last lap. Tigers trail by 5 points.

Danny K traps to win heat 6 from Jake with Kasper third. Leicester's in form Ryan Douglas wins heat 7 for the Scorpions with our guest Todd second ahead of Broc and Stefan. Alfie Bowtell surprises everyone to lead heat 8. Danny A rounds Zaine into turn 3 and Kasper thought about going for an outside pass on the pits turn but chickened out. Jake traps ahead in heat 9 and Drew loses ground lap by lap, although Ty never looks like mounting a challenge of his own. Danny K wins heat 10 from tapes to flag but Kasper can only watch Ryan and Stefan ahead of him. Tigers still trail by 5 points.

The Scorpions gate to lead heat 11 but Todd squeezes under Josh out of turn 2 and valiantly holds him off for the rest of the race but the visitors extend their lead to 7 with four races remaining. Simon strikes fast and puts Danny K out as a tactical for Zaine. Ryan takes Danny K wide into the first turn and then cuts back to pass leader Ty out of the pits turn. Ty then does a fine job of taking his team mates line until Danny K eventually finds a gap at the start of the last lap but too late to catch Ryan. Danny is back out in heat 13 and this time he and Todd get the better starts. Josh got close to Todd off the second turn but not close enough. With the deficit down to just three there were some short fingernails on the terraces. The Scorpions trap to lead heat 14 but young Alfie gets the second bend all wrong and tries to climb the fence half way down the back straight. Bike and man hurtle in all directions and Drew and Broc pick their way through the hazards. Good job it wasn't Zaine as he would have been held responsible. Stefan again leads the restart with Drew close but not getting any closer. Broc ventures out wide where others fear and rounds Drew entering turn three and then Stefan out of turn four to a tremendous cheer from the terraces! Just one point between the sides and the Tigers need a heat win to steal the match. Danny and guest Todd are Simon's choices. Guest Ryan and Danny are Dave Peet's. Danny K traps from gate 1 and Todd is hot on Ryan's tail but with Danny A in close attendance. Sheffield fans have everything crossed for three and a half laps until Danny A gambles it all on the third bend but has to be extracted from under the fence. That's what you call a close shave!
