Top scorer At last! Steady won the toss and chose the inside gates. For the first time this season our heat leaders all won their opening rides and after 4 heats we held an 8 point lead!  Steady trapped ahead of Ed Kennett in heat 1 and never looked like being caught, while Luke Bowen was right on Simon Nielsen's rear wheel but never attempted to pass. The Tigers led away in heat 2 but Jason Bunyan passed Josh at the start of the second lap and set off in pursuit of Taylor. Stefan Nielsen gave Josh a good ride and Jason tried inside and out but couldn't get past Taylor. An excellent first bend saw Leigh round Mathieu Tresarrieu in heat 3 and Josh led heat 4 until passed by Ty on the back straight as we claimed our first 5-1. The Rockets gated in heat 5 but Leigh passed Ed on the pits turn at the end of the first lap. Tigers lead cut back to 6 points.

Jason Bunyan made the most of the outside gate to blast around Steady in heat 6 and never looked like being caught. Simon Nielsen quietly wore Steve Boxall down and passed on the inside of the last turn to claim a shared heat. The Rockets led heat 7 and Taylor fell on the apex of the 3rd & 4th turns as Ty blasted past on the inside. Ty made a better start in the rerun and Jason Garrity fell trying to block Ty's outside line. Josh led heat 8 from Stefan Nielsen who got alongside him on the back straight on the third lap. Stefan then tried to lean on Josh into the third turn but Josh held his line and Stefan tested the air fence. Andre pushed Steve all the way home in heat 9 while Leigh relegated Jason Bunyan (on a tactical ride) to last place with an inside pass at the end of the second lap. Jason fell trying too hard to get back in contention. The Rockets were fast away in heat 10 and while Steady passed his team mate on the first lap he never caught the visiting pair. The Tigers lead is pegged back to 6 points.

Ty led heat 11 and Taylor rounded Ed out of the second bend to follow him home for a comfortable 5-1. The rockets best pairing trapped ahead in heat 12 but Leigh was left with nowhere to go outside Mathieu and tumbled into the fence. Many ref's would have ruled 'first bend bunching', but not Peter Clarke. Ed trapped ahead in heat 13 but Steady went under him into turn three and  Ty blasted around him out of turn four on the first lap and went on to claim his first maximum for the Tigers. Garrity led heat 14 from Taylor and then Bunyan, but Taylor dived past into the lead on the third turn and then again on the second turn, while Andre switched back under the NZ Grand Prix wildcard out of turn four to extend the Tigers lead. Taylor got the nod for heat 15 alongside his skipper against the best Rockets pair. Steady and Taylor led the way but Mathieu powered around the Tigers reserve at the end of the first lap.

A good nights racing with Taylor receiving the 'Man of the match' bubbly. Just building up some headway with the team coming to terms with their home track and guess what..? No meeting next Thursday!
