Top scorer  Aaron wins the toss and takes the inside gate positions. Hugh Skidmore leads the way with Oliver Allen hot on his tail but unable to mount a challenge. Taylor Poole traps ahead to win heat 2 but Liam Carr has to elbow Jan Graversen out of his way on the first turn and shuts the door in Rafal Konopka's face on the third turn for a hard fought second. Mark Lemon leads heat 3 from Kevin Wolbert and Ben Wilson does just enough to keep Carl Wilkinson at the back. Aaron Summers wins heat 4 from the tapes and Nico Covatti on his home debut powers around the outside of Rafal to join Taylor for a shared heat. Richard Lawson wins heat 5 from the tapes and Kevin cannot make any impression on Hugh for third place. Scores are level at 15 all.

Aaron takes another flyer to win heat 6 and although Oliver passes Ben at the start of lap 3 he cannot catch the leader. Mark Lemon traps to lead heat 7 and Carl dives between the Tigers pair into turn three for a Redcar 5-1. Rafal breaks the tapes and is replaced. Hugh and Jan lead heat 8 but Taylor chases hard and dives past Jan into the third turn on the second lap. Aaron destroys the tapes in heat 9 and elects to takes the handicap. Taylor leads the way but Kevin cannot pass Jan. Aaron is getting ever closer until he overcooks it on the third lap and tests the air fence. He clears the track but the race is stopped as the air fence is deflating. Oliver and Ben lead heat 10 but Mark picks off Ben on the third turn, second lap. Bears hold a slender two point advantage.

Nico makes the gate to lead heat 11 from Richard  and Hugh. Taylor puts everything into a last bend effort and swoops around Hugh to steal third place and even the match scores. It's that man again as Taylor powers into the lead from the outside gate ahead of Mark and Rafal. Kevin powers around Rafal on the second lap but cannot better Mark while Rafal falls at the back on the fourth lap. Richard leads heat 13 but Oliver passes him on the fourth turn. Nico is third with Aaron hot on his tail. Richard powers under Oliver at the start of the third lap but Oliver gets better drive out of turn two to regain the lead. Richard blasts around the out side and passes Oliver again out of the pits turn and holds on for the win. Taylor flies into the lead in heat 14 with Carl and Jan in close contention. Liam is chasing hard but misses the third turn and powers headlong into the air fence. After lengthy attention by the paramedics and a long wait for a county ambulance the minutes ticked away to the curfew and the remaining heats and Midland Development League were sacrificed.

'Man of the match' went deservedly to Taylor Poole. Thanks to Oliver and Kevin. Best wishes to Liam. Nico gave us a taste of things to come, but I worry how we will manage when Ben drops to reserve...
