It was always going to be difficult to cover for Richard Hall in our home
matches even if all the other six riders were on song, but with Facu struggling
with his machine, Jake down on power and the referee excluding Damien for
being spectacular it made the task even harder. Simon was majestic and Joe
looked more like the rider we remember from last season but Ricky might
as well have worn his Wolverhampton kevlars. He picked up two Elite league
wins at Brandon on Monday as the Wolves tore into the Bees, even beating
Scott Nicholls who was on a tactical ride, but failed to record a single
heat win against Premier league opposition on his home track beaten by Matej
Kus (three times), Ulrich Ostergaard (twice), Aaron Summers and reserve
Micky Dyer.
What was Master Bates thinking of in heat 11? Damien got a good run around the outside and pulled a big wheelie on the outside out of turn two. At the same moment Hugh Skidmore had a big wobble on the inside and dropped it, somehow managing to get himself thrown right over the safety fence! He was nowhere near Damien and it was a totally unrelated incident as the video evidence shows...
