Gary Havelock was the easy winner of heat 1 with Richard Juul falling on the last lap at the back of the field. Jack Hargreaves muscled his way past Paul Cooper on the first bend of heat 2 after which Paul just didn't seem to have the speed to respond. Emiliano and Kyle were untroubled winners in heat 3, as were the Compton brothers in heat 4. Kyle gave chase in heat 5 but was never looked like catching Gary.

Chris Kerr had everyone holding their breath in heat 6 as he blasted around Ben on the third turn and then virtually rode a 'wall-of-death' line millimeters from the fence. How he stayed on I don't know, but Ben was unimpressed and his inside line restored him into second place. Cooperman was wringing everything he could from his Sean Wilson tuned bike in heat 7, but Tomas Suchanek breezed by on the second turn of lap three. Benji tried too hard and fell at the start of the last lap in heat 8, while Ben passed Richard Juul to claim his first win of the night. Chris Kerr was good value as he gave chase in heat 9, but Kevin Little failed to gain any advantage from his black & white helmet as he trailed home last in heat 10.

André responded to Gary Havelock in the black & white helmet by winning heat 11 in the fastest time of the season, some 1½ seconds faster than Jason Crump! Cooperman however was down to 'my little pony' power and trailed home last. Emiliano finished on 9 (paid 11) by winning heat 12 from Kevin Little. The big guns were out in heat 13 and it turned out to be quite a race. André powered around Gary onto the back straight, only for Gary to return the compliment on the pits turn at the end of lap one. André chose the inside line to pass Gary again on the second corner of lap 2, only for Gary to once again lead as they crossed the finishing line. André made it a hat-trick of second bend passes, this time on the outside, only this time Gary didn't manage to respond although he pressured him all the way to the finish. Excellent speedway between two great racers and fully deserving the acclaim of everyone in the stadium. Kyle wheelied out of turn two as he picked up drive in heat 14 allowing Cooperman and Tomas through. He then tangled either with Tomas or the fence half way down the back straight taking an awkward looking tumble with Daniel Giffard piling straight into him as he lay on the track. Paul tried his best in the rerun but just didn't have the power to catch Tomas and the Bears took their first heat advantage of the night. André and Ricky were nominated for the Tigers, and Gary and Tomas for the Bears, as the crowd anticipated a repeat of  heat 13. Ricky was taken very wide on turn two and left with a lot of ground to make up while André grabbed a handful of throttle on turn three as he chased Gary. Unfortunately that's where it finished for André as he caught some drive and had to bale out, and by the time Ricky had caught and passed Tomas, Gary was home and dry.

I'll look forward to Gary's next visit by which time I guess Chris Kerr might be better prepared. Good strong display from the Tigers except Paul who is still struggling to make his Sheffield bike work.
