2008 Programme  Sheffield was spared by the rain clouds which drenched the rest of the country and the track looked very good. The Racers have a powerful looking team and the Tigers have been looking fragile recently and we are now without Ricky as well. Mark Lemon nudged the tapes at the start of heat 1 and he only just made the restart by jumping on Ulrich Ostergaard's bike with seconds to spare. It was all in vain as he fell on the first bend allowing Joel and Paul a comfortable 5-1 ahead of Tomas Suchanek. Danny Warwick and Benji Compton hit back with a Reading 5-1 in heat 2 with Josh Grajczonek reluctant to move off the white line to pass Benji. Joel made a blistering start to lead heat 3 but Ulrich passed him as they entered turn three. Joel wound it on and reclaimed the lead on the pits turn and then rode a wide line which even Ulrich couldn't better. Danny Warwick led heat 4 but Ben Wilson swooped around him out of turn 2. Josh followed suit on the third turn and then held off Danny's spirited challenges for another maximum win. Joel and André took an easy 5-1 from the tapes in heat 5 leaving the Tigers ten points ahead.

Ben and Paul made it a hat-trick ahead of Tom Madsen in heat 6 but Tim Sugar nominated Ulrich for a tactical ride in heat 7 and he easily outpaced Ben to claim all six points. Paul swooped around the field to lead by the back straight in heat 8 but Josh was again at the back of the field and the points were shared. Tom Madsen gated ahead in heat 9 and went from the inside gate to mid track on the first bend to defend his lead, only for both André and Joel to power past him. Benji too passed him on the third bend and the race was stopped after Tom fell heavily on the third turn on the third lap. Ulrich trapped ahead in heat 10 and André gave chase moving from last to second on the second turn but couldn't catch the flying Dane. Paul tried everything he could but Chris Mills just held onto third place as the Racers pulled back to eleven points adrift.

Ben gated to win heat 11 from Mark and Tomas Suchanek with Kyle Hughes making a terrible start. André led heat 12 until Ulrich dived under him on the third turn. André moved back into the lead with the inside line on the pits turn but Ulrich passed him wide on turn two and then extended a narrow lead. Mark Lemon trapped to win heat 13 with Paul struggling for speed and losing second place to Ben. Chris and Joel had a fair old tussle for a couple of laps in heat 14 with the lead changing hands several times before Joel pulled clear with an excellent first turn on the third lap. Kyle claimed his only point of the evening ahead of Danny who seems to have gone off the boil. Tim chooses Ulrich and Mark for heat 15 while Eric goes with Ben and Joel. Joel is a bit narked that despite being unbeaten he's not given a choice of gate position and then Ben rides across his line on the third turn to deny him any chance to go for his maximum.

Ulrich apart the Racers took a long time to dial themselves into the track. Josh has been hitting big scores all over the country but his Owlerton debut was a bit of a handful. No doubt he'll be better prepared on his next visit. Rider replacement for Ricky accumulated paid 10 but it could be a different story at Normanby Road...
