The PIRTEK Tigers outclassed the Ideal Video Racers running up a 25 point winning margin in the process. Matej Zagar entertained the crowd earning most of his points the hard way but his only support came from reserve Mathieu Tresarrieu, although Zdenek Simota's score does not reflect the effort he put into his racing.

Sean Wilson sped into the lead in heat 1, which finished as a 5-1 thanks to Andrew Appleton's bike expiring on the third lap gifting second place to Ben. Heat 2 was restarted after Ritchie Dennis and Paul Cooper collided on the run to the first turn, with Paul being allowed time to affect repairs. He made no mistake in the restart and Trevor Harding followed him home for another reserves heat maximum. Mathieu Tresarrieu fell on the second lap while in 4th place and remounted before retiring. Richard Hall took a strange line into turn 1 at the start of heat 3 but rounded the field to lead down the back straight. Zdenek Simota put Ricky Ashworth under pressure for a while but it ended 15-3 to the Tigers. André won heat 4 at the canter with Matej Zagar content to follow Mathieu home to share the heat. Andrew Appleton on a tactical followed Ricky home in heat 5 although Richard was never troubled by Steve Masters at the back.

Matej was slow away in heat 6 but powered around Ben out of the second turn on the third lap although Sean was long gone by then. André won heat 7 but everyone was watching the scrap between Zdenek and Paul for second place. Zdenek made a superb run out of turn two and looked set to pass Paul entering turn 3 but Paul shut the door and seemed to second guess Zdenek's every move. Zdenek wound it all on for a wide blast on the first turn of the last lap and just avoided hitting the fence! Ben recovered to pass Mathieu on the fourth turn to win heat 8, and Trevor's third place extended the lead to 20 points. Matej was on a tactical in heat 9 and took full advantage when he rounded Ricky out of the pits bend at the end of the third lap, but his efforts were nullified when Ben made a cracking start to heat 10 and Sean team-rode with him for a classy 5-1.

André dominated heat 11 and Paul cut inside Andrew Appleton out of turn 2, but couldn't make any impression on Mathieu in second. Mathieu was out again in heat 12 and cut inside Ricky on the first turn of lap 2 with Zdenek ahead of Trevor at the back. When Ricky ground to a halt at the start of the last lap it looked like being a Reading 5-1 but the same fate befell Zdenek on the very last turn gifting Trevor two points. Sean took heat 13 comfortably and it looked like being a 5-1 when André passed Matej at the start of the second lap. Matej was having none of it though and returned the favour out of the second turn on the last lap. Mathieu led heat 14 until Paul passed on the pits turn at the end of the first lap, but the race was stopped when Richard Hall fell trying to pass Richard Wolff on the third turn one lap later. Paul made the start in the rerun and Richard just couldn't get into contention. Sean and André looked set to finish in style but Matej made up a lot of ground with a superb second turn on lap three, and blasted past André with more of the same on the last lap for a well deserved second place.

Not a classic meeting but some entertaining racing from rare Owlerton visitor Matej Zagar, and what a prospect they have in Mathieu Tresarrieu!
