Arnie Haley joined Reg Wilson on the injured list but we were fortunately allowed a guest. Aussie John Langfield was programmed at no.4 for the 'Pirates' but was switched to reserve with second-halfer Len Davis pencilled into the team? Scores remained close throughout the match until Pete Smith and John Langfield's 5-1 gave them a four point lead in heat 11. Norwegian Reidar Eide and Aussie Bob Valentine pegged it straight back for the 'Tigers' in heat 12 ahead of Langfield and struggling Swede Christer Lofqvist and while home favourite Pete Smith won the deciding last heat, 'Tigers' guest Boulger and Bert Harkins shut out Brian Collins for a share of the spoils.
