Not a memorable meeting. The track was prepared far too slick which meant there was precious little by way of passing. André Compton missed the start in heat 2 and failed to make any impression on the rest of the field, eventually falling on the second turn on the last lap. Even Zetterstrom won heat 4 after gating ahead of Zagar. Garry Stead provided the race of the day with a lovely inside line to pass Stuart Robson on the pits bend in heat 6. Sean gated last in heat 7 and although he passed Korneliussen on the pits bend he looked like trailing in third until Zagar pulled out with engine problems. Garry Stead had taken a purler into the fence in heat 2 and was forced to retire with a case of mild concussion. Benji Compton took his ride in heat 9 and finished ahead of heat 4 winner Zetterstrom after being passed by Harrison on lap 3.

The heat 14 clash of Compton and Mogridge was always going to be interesting. Moggo leaned on André on the first turn but André clearly had more power and dived past him on the third turn. There was no contact, Moggo had plenty of room to manoeuvre, but he chose to bale out earning André a very harsh exclusion. (Moggo was far too calm and collected. If he had been taken off there would have been a confrontation!)

There followed a trail of processions, including Mogridge pushing Shane Parker around to win heat 20 in the slowest time of the night to deny André a semi-final place. Mark Lemon found his way past Tomas Topinka in the semi-final with Parker and Robson failing to make it to the final. Sean was leading by the back straight in the final with Topinka and Mogridge dicing for second for the first two laps. Mogridge pulled clear on the third lap and closed rapidly in but Sean kept his cool and a perfect line to take his second PLRC title.

Congratulations to Sean for bouncing back to the top after his recent injuries. Commiseration to Garry Stead who started the meeting like a man on fire, and a word of thanks to the lunatics from Glasgow who celebrated James Grieves scoring a point as if he'd just become world champion!
