European Junior Champion and World Longtrack Champion Shawn Moran was in blistering form. He'd just wrested the Golden Helmet from Bo Petersen at Swindon so it was no surprise when he left Kenny Carter in his wake winning heat 1 and setting in a new track record in the process.
It was more of a surprise to see him drop a point to Kelvin Tatum in his last ride which meant a run-off with Kenny to claim the title.
