The Tigers went into this match looking for all 3 points but it nearly all went wrong before they even got to Wales! The van in which Ben Wilson and Kyle Legault were travelling broke down leaving them stranded on the M5. They alerted skipper Sean on his mobile who was able to divert some Sheffield supporters already en-route to pick them up. They arrived with their gear but no bikes and borrowed Ricky and Richard's spare machines, making the twelve (paid sixteen) points they scored so much more remarkable.

The Wasps made a spirited start with Danish newcomer Henrik Vedel beating Sean to win heat 1, Karlis Ezergalis taking the flag in heat 2 and Mads Korneliussen beating André in heat 4. Sean headed evergreen Neil Collins in heat 5 and Ben's third place edged the Tigers into a narrow lead. Ricky and Richard's maximum in heat 7 was the clincher as it not only extended the Tigers lead, but also saw Mads Korneliussen withdrawing from the meeting suffering with his injured shoulder. Ben and Kyle on their borrowed mounts further extended the Tigers lead to eight points and there followed four shared heats which tantalizingly denied the home side recourse to tactical options.

Sean and André's maximum in heat 13 put us in an unassailable position and Richard and Kyle sealed the points by beating Lee Dicken in the penultimate heat. Neil Collins salvaged some respect by winning the nominated heat but the Wasps were really struggling. They provided six heat winners but not a solitary heat advantage, while the Tigers operated as a unit with every member of the team claiming at least one bonus point. Ricky and André took three heat wins apiece, Richard bounced back from a fall in his third outing to win heat 14 and the whole team should be congratulated on a good afternoon's work. No wonder Neil was buying rounds in the pub!
