The Wasps were still on a high following their big win at Berwick on Friday, but the Tigers soon brought them down to earth. Ricky and Ben took a maximum in heat 1 but the Wasps battled back into the lead with a 5-1 from Chris Schramm and Barry Burchatt in heat 4. Joel and James restored the Tigers lead in heat 6 but Michal Rajowski and Tony Atkin put the Wasps back ahead in heat 9. André and Paul countered with a maximum of their own in heat 10 but it all went wrong in heat 11 with Ricky excluded for moving at the start, and both Ben's excluded for knocking Nick Simmons off in separate incidents. Maximums for André and Ben in heat 12, and Ricky and Joel in heat 13 put the Tigers 5 points ahead. Ben Powell won heat 14 to assure the Tigers a certain draw, and Ricky's second place in the nominated heat sealed a crucial victory.
