2008 Programme  Ricky Ashworth made an appalling gate in heat 1 but Richard Juul took the first bend like a wobbly novice allowing Ricky up into second place by the back straight. Josef Franc kept his head down and won by a considerable margin while Kyle Hughes was never challenged by the erratic Dane. Paul Cooper blasted around Luke Priest to lead heat 2 with Kyle Hughes chasing hard until he pulled an enormous wheelie out of turn two on the third lap. He just managed to get it under control before hitting the fence but Sean Stoddart was so far behind Kyle held onto third place. Jason King made a blistering start to lead heat 3 from André Compton and Joel Parsons tried everything but couldn't get past George Stancl. Paul led from the tapes in heat 4 and rode a good wide line to keep Jason at bay. Ben Wilson moved up to second off the pits turn on the first lap but then moved back to the white line allowing Jason to breeze past. So far only Paul Cooper had won a race for the Tigers, but André rectified that in heat 5 with a barnstorming win with Joel pushing hard but unable to pass Josef. Richard Juul was excluded for finishing the race without a silencer! Tigers lead by a slender four points.

Ricky led heat 6 from Luke Priest until the Diamonds guest fell on the pits turn. The Diamonds pair gated ahead in heat 7 with Ben trailing at the back. Kyle got stuck in and passed George Stancl on the inside of the pits turn on the second lap. Ben failed to emulate his rookie team mate. Luke briefly led heat 8 with Joel blasting around him out of turn two. Paul had his hands full containing Richard Juul but they both passed Luke, Richard inside and Paul outside on the pits turn on the second lap. André led heat 9 and was joined at the front by Joel who passed Richard on the pits turn on the first lap. It was hectic on the first turn in heat 10 but Ricky emerged in the lead as they hit the back straight. Paul picked off George with an outside swoop on the pits turn but couldn't find a way past Jason. The Tigers lead has blossomed to sixteen points.

Pepe was on a tactical in heat 11 and after he and Richard gated ahead Ben seemed content to follow them home. André and Paul trapped ahead of Luke in heat 12 although George picked up third place by passing his team mate on the pits turn. Ricky and Ben trapped ahead of Josef to take an easy 5-1 in heat 13 showing Ben can do it when it suits him. Kyle trapped ahead in heat 14 but he was passed by both Jason and Joel at the end of the first lap. Jason got the drop on the Tigers to lead heat 15 and rode an excellent line to keep Ricky at bay, but Josef retired from the back of the field after a couple of laps.

Neil Machin had apparently read the riot act to the lads after some lacklustre recent displays. Newcastle are usually poor opposition at Owlerton so this can hardly be described as a return to form, although young Kyle Hughes really took the eye with his best Owlerton performance to date. On the other hand Ben Wilson was abysmal when he didn't make the start showing no sign of even attempting a pass.
