One
month into their new project Neil Machin and Tim Lucking signed Aussie Tony Langdon
to replace the struggling Thierry
Hilaire, and he helped the Tigers to their solitary away win of the season. The
match didn't start so well with both Neil and Simon crashing out of heat 4 and
the Tigers conceeded a further 1-5 in
heat 8. From that point onwards Peter Carr rode unbeaten and received great support
from his fellow heat leaders. Neil Evitts again declined the nomination for heat 15
as he continued his dispute
with his new promoters who wanted to renegotiate his contract.
The Cubs lost Rob Homer who crashed out in his first ride taking no further
part in the match, and indeed only managed a single victory on their way to an eleven
point defeat.
