Simon Stead sped to the front and won easily to create a new track record. Facundo
took evasive action or would otherwise have been stuffed into the second
bend fence by an out of control Jan Graversen. The Lions led heat 2 and
Damien just avoids falling on the first turn of lap 2. Lewis Blackbird does fall bend
2 lap 3 and the Tigers reserves manage to stay upright to share the heat.
Lasse Bjerre leads heat 3
for two laps until his bike slows to a walking pace gifting Joe with a win.
Ricky rounds Kevin Doolan on the second bend of heat 4 and Lewis falls again in third place
and the Tigers now lead by 6 points. Simon Stead speeds to victory in heat 5 but
Facundo just can't work out how to set up a pass although he's on Kevin's
back wheel all the way.
Ricky traps ahead in heat 6 and is followed home
by Jan and Kauko Nieminen. Simon Nielsen and Kevin lead heat 7 until the third turn
when Richard throws caution to the wind and swoops majestically past the pair of them and into
the lead. Kevin attempts a lurid dive under Richard into the third bend on the last lap but luckily
Richard just manages to stay upright and held him off. Jan gates ahead in heat 8 and Damien falls
on the first turn. Facundo never stops trying but cannot find a way past. Lasse wins heat 9 from the gate.
Kauko traps to win heat 10 with Richard soaking up everything Jan threw at him. Lions have levelled the scores.
Steady wins heat 11 from Simon but Facundo drifted too wide at the start of the second lap allowing
Kevin through into third place. Damien replaces Jake but nudges the tapes and earns a 15m handicap.
Lewis passes Joe down the back straight, and Lasse follows him through off the fourth turn. Kauko leads
the way in heat 13 and Simon can only follow him while Ricky looks comfortable in third place until Kevin's
machine expires on the last lap. Richard wins heat 14 but Damien struggles to pass either of the Lions reserves.
Steady and Richard meet Kauko and Lasse in heat 15. Lasse traps and wins from Steady while Richard has
to work hard to contain Kauko.
Three of the Tigers had never seen the Leicester track before so can be forgiven for struggling but
on the whole it was a much better result than most expected.
