King's Lynn in their first season did not have a place in any league and contented themselves with a series of challenge matches. One week previously they had been unlucky with machine problems and had lost narrowly to the Exetrer Falcons. The Tigers were the challengers this week but Billy Bales was a last minute non-starter and his place was taken by Eric Minall who after ten years in retirement had ridden in just a handful of matches for various teams. Eric only contested one more meeting before his leathers found their way back to the peg in his garage.
