Top scorer The Witches provided four heat winners in the first four races, but thenTobiasz rounded Danny King out of turn 2 and then Lewis Kerr passed him at the start of lap 2 to keep the Tigers just 2 points adrift. Heats 6 and 7 were 4-2's to the home team. Lewis is untroubled winning heat 8 but Danyon Hume passes Dan Gilkes and just holds on under pressure. Jack leads heat 9 but Danny King is climbing all over him. Kyle is untroubled by Keynan Rew and the Witches lead is reduced back to just 2 points. Jason and Danyon take a 4-2 ahead of Adam and Davis respectively in heat 10.

Emil wins heat 11 from Tobiasz with Keynan beating Lewis for third spot. Danny wins heat 12. Keynan passes Kyle on the first lap and Adam picks off his skipper towards the end. Jack and Tobiasz lead into the third bend in heat 13 but a blanket would cover all four riders. Emil and Jack trade places bend by bend with Jason chasing Tobiasz. See the '2023 Season Review' DVD for what should become a Eurosport tv advert. Tobi is tac-sub for David and wins heat 14 from rider-replacement Danny and Keynan. Tobi leads heat 15 but fails to make it three wins in consecutive heats when Emil dives under him at the end of the second lap.

The Tigers were once again found wanting away from home. Jack never looked happy although the score chart for his last two rides belies the great races they were. The most pressing problem lies with David who once again failed to score. Tobiasz continues to turn heads wherever he races.

The return leg on Thursday should be a nail biter as we try to claim the aggregate bonus point...
