The Dukes annihilated the Glasgow Tigers 50-27 in the first leg of this double header. Here is Peter Hale's account of the second leg from the Speedway Star Vol.17 No.14

The second match was full of excitement and brought a last-heat decider. The scores stood at 36-36 after 12 heats and in the final heat, while the others were sorting themselves out on the first turn, Bob Paulson went into a clear lead. He rode a good steady line all the way, and hard as Eric Boocock and Eric Boothroyd tried to catch him, Paulson kept his lead and the 3-3 gave Sheffield their first away point of the season. It was also the first point Halifax had dropped at the Shay his year.

Halifax's men and machines had taken a terrific hammering as the second match progressed, but this is not to detract from the fine display by Sheffield who had stars in Bengt Larsson and Charlie Monk - they produced 5-1's in heats 6 and 12 - and Bob Paulson, who along with Larsson brought another maximum heat success in the 12th [sic 10th] race.

Boocock and Boothroyd, who had to borrow Les Sharpe's bike for his last outing after his own engine had started missing in his previous two races, and Alan Jay were the Dukes' stars. Dave Younghusband didn't reproduce the form of the first match scoring only 4 points, and reserve Sharpe failed to score.

Greg Kentwell took over from Maury Robinson (holed piston) in the second match and Sharpe came in at No.7. Kentwell was unlucky in the 10th race when he was first out of the gate, but reared and fell. He was already riding with a bruised foot and arm after a mishap at Newcastle the previous Monday and received more bruising to legs, arms and back.
