The Tigers held a 20 points lead from the first leg but trailed by 6 on the night (14 ahead on aggregate) with four heats remaining. Two maximum wins from Shawn and Neil, and another from Shawn and Dave saw the Tigers battle back to claim the away win.

Young Dane Erik Knudsen struggled and was certainly no substitute for the injured Kenny Carter and the Dukes were also missing Craig Pendlebury. Sheffield were without Alan Mason through injury and called on youngster Julian Parr.
