Dennis Waters wrote in the Speedway Star;
HAWKS relinquished a mid-match six point lead as Sheffield put together a pair of 5-1's
and a 4-2 to give them a four point advantage after heat 9.
Hackney levelled the scores with a Finn Thomsen and Bobby McNeil 5-1 and after maximum
scores each way the teams went into heat 13 all square. Barry Thomas and McNeil kept a hard
pressing Eric Broadbelt at bay to share the race points behind Doug Wyer and the match
finished level.
