The Falcons were without Louis Carr who had taken a fall in the Westernapolis meeting the previous week. Days later he went to his local hospital where they discovered he'd fractured his ankle which meant he was out of the saddle for the next five weeks. Steven Bishop was the last minute replacement, and the Falcons line-up also featured the return to the saddle of someone who is now well known to Sky Sports viewers.
Programme notes mentioned that the Collins brothers were close season targets for the Falcons but both had declined the offer due to the travelling involved and had joined the Tigers in preference. The Falcons loss was considerable especially as Les and Neil finished the meeting as the Tigers two highest scorers.
