Simon Wigg led the Lions to a comfortable win over the injury hit Yanks. Kelly Moran was sidelined with a serious arm injury sustained in Poland which left the Americans effectively without a reserve. Brother Shawn wasn't fully fit himself. He had broken his ankle at Oxford but elected to ride in, and had indeed won the American National Championship just 10 days later, and was still battling through the pain barrier.
