Ivan Mauger and Barry Briggs won 10 of the 18 races between them, but had no back-up. By comparison all
the English riders with the exception of Martin Ashby had race wins, and Martin was still good for 7 (paid 11)
points.
The Lions had survived a scare at Wimbledon and won by the slimmest of margins 54-53. The Kiwis
Andrew/Andrews pairing had let them down in the second test at Hyde Road which finished 66-42. The third test at
Swindon turned into a rout at 70-37 and this result finished the series at 4-0.
