Premier debut boy Zach Wajtknecht With Jason Garrity joining the ever growing injury list following a back injury on Wednesday even the most fervent Tigers fans expected the Monarchs to win this match, but hoped we could still make the play-offs by virtue of the remaining fixtures against Redcar and Scunthorpe.

Brady Kurtz won heat 1 in the fastest time of the year leaving Craig Cook in his wake. Rob Branford leads heat 2 until Josh Bates dives inside him on the second lap and Rob backs right off. Young guest Zack Wajtknecht is holding off Max Clegg and closing in on Rob when Rob's bike expires on the run to the line. Kevin Wolbert reminds us of his liking for the Owlerton circuit winning heat 3 from the tapes. The Monarchs trap ahead in heat 4 and while Brady passes Rob out of the second turn he is left for dead as Craig becomes the first man this season to break the one minute barrier. Rob holds off Josh's attempts to pass and the Monarchs take their first heat advantage. Nikolai Klindt powers past Justin Sedgmen to lead heat 5 but David Bellego makes no impression on Craig Cook. Sheffield hold a slender two point lead.

Brady's bike stopped at the gate with about 30 seconds remaining and he just made it back out on his spare in time. Kevin led but Brady scythed under him into the third turn. Paco held off Max Clegg and then caught up with Kevin but just couldn't make the pass. Nikolai takes Jason's rider replacement place in heat 7 and flies to a comfortable win. Heat 8 didn't start very well with the Monarchs taking the early lead. Josh Bates passed Rob on the inside at the start of the second lap and Rob was so flustered that Paco followed suit on the next turn. Josh then closed in on Justin and dived into the lead on the third turn. Justin is straight back out in heat 9 and storms to a win ahead of David and Nikolai. Brady wins heat 10 from Erik Riss and Paco takes third place from a struggling Kevin and the Tigers have extended their lead to eight points. Can they maintain it though?

Craig wins heat 11 but David and Josh shut out Justin and that's all we need to do for the next four races. Josh and David storm to a 5-1 over Rob and Kevin in heat 12 and the Sheffield fans can hardly believe it puts us in an uncatchable lead! Brady does the business to win heat 13 ahead of Erik and Craig, and although Erik wins heat 14 from Josh, Nikolai passes Rob on the second lap to square the heat and assure the bonus point. Brady wins heat 15 from Craig and Justin and while Nikolai was tailed off at the back he'd already done enough to give us the win.

Great team effort with every point counting. Paco's score doesn't look much but those three points gave us three heat advantages which extended our lead each time and Zach's persistence in heat 2 meant he was perfectly placed when Rob's bike stopped. That promotes us to 3rd in the league so play-offs here we come!
