The Tigers did a good job
to keep the scorelines level for the first 5 heats or so before the Monarchs
stepped up a gear. We then made a blunder in 9 when we failed to nominate André
for a tactical ride. David McAllan skittled Robert Ksiezak in heat 11 who collected
Sean, both taking nasty tumbles. Robert withdrew from the meeting giving two
extra rides to the in-form Matthew Wethers while Sean was forced onto his spare
machine. Another bit of inept team management saw Kyle having to take his third
ride in heat 14, and worse Richard Hall attempting to ride as a tactical substitute
in a heat he was already programmed in. When Richard took both Kyle and Matthew
Wethers out on the first bend he can consider himself lucky to have made the
rerun, which the Monarchs turned into a 5-1 to set up an aggregate last heat
decider. Luckily the Tigers gated in heat 15 and although Rusty battled past
Sean, André was able to take the win and steer us into the semi-finals.
Richard, Ben and Kyle will have to apply themselves much more at Hoddesdon if
we are to have any chance of making the final.
