Swindon v Sheffield programme from 1985

Colin Pratt's programme notes referred to recent losses at home to Oxford and away at Ipswich, both by just 2 points with the Heathen's poor gating letting them down. He was hoping for a stronger effort in their opening league match aginst the Tigers.

Both sides were missing their top men as both Erik Gundersen and Shawn Moran were in Poland riding in the World Best Pairs final. Colin opted for a guest while Eric Boocock chose to utilise rider replacement, and there was nothing in it as both scored 7 points.

Wins from Sam Nikolajsen inspired the Tigers to an 8 point lead after 7 heats and his win in heat 13 with acting skipper Les Collins in third was enough to steal victory after the Heathens had battled back to level the scores.
