Bernie Persson was missing due to Swedish commitments and Bobby Beaton was programmed
as their guest replacement, but Jim McMillan was a late substitution. He turned out
to be the only heat winner for the Heathens as the rampant Tigers took them apart.
Rider replacement for injured Reg Wilson accrued paid 10 and reserve Bob Valentine
claimed an impressive paid 13, but star attraction for the Tigers was Bert Harkins who
dropped just one point to Jim in heat 3.
Doug Wyer was our only qualifier for the second half final where he finished second to
Jim in a time of 70.8.
