Charles Ochiltree's programme notes mentioned how King's Lynn had been refused permission to track National League star Malcolm Simmons
at reserve as cover for Mick Poole who had broken his leg down under. The Bees had also lost an Aussie heat leader but weren't expecting a
guest facility. The weather had also been hampering track preparation and indeed some winning times were 10 secs slower than the track record.
Tommy Knudsen's place was taken by John Cook whose three heat wins were the only ones recorded by any of the Bees. Neil Collins maximum
was spoiled by John in heat 6 but the difference for the Tigers was that Martin Hagon and both Moran brothers backed him up with two wins each and
even Tiger Cub Peter McNamara won the reserves heat.
