Billie (sic) Bales was
absent for the Tigers and Reg Wilson was the change to the line-up. The Monarchs were celebrating their recent
hat-trick of wins in the Scottish Cup with a last decider over Glasgow. They romped into a big lead with
only Bengt Larsson and Arnold Haley offering resistance. George Hunter missed heat 7 pegging back
the Monarchs lead and Jim Airey got his act together to win heat 8, but Bengt failed to add to his score in
his remaining rides and the Monarchs ran out easy winners.
Bert Harkins won the Lanarkshire Trophy second-half final from George Hunter with both Jim Airey
and Reidar Eide failing to finish.
