Joey Westwood replaced George Bewley at reserve for the Heathens and Ken Handscombe took Vic Lonsdale's place in the Tigers team. The Tigers held a six point lead from the first leg but following a purple patch mid meeting they took a commanding lead on the night. A late rally by the Heathens saw them requiring a 5-1 to draw, but Ron Bagley won the last heat to secure the away win. Ron went on to win his second-half heat and also the final from Tommy Roper and John Hart.
