My man of the match
The Aces were defending a 12 point lead but in previous encounters this season they had lost by 8 in the K.O.Cup, and by 18 and 22 in the two premiership clashes. Having won the toss they elected for gates 1 & 3. Brady Kurtz off gate 3 won heat 2 from Kyle with Jack back in third place. Antti Vuolas won heat 2 but our reserves shared the heat. Jaimon Lidsey sped from gate 1 to win heat 3 from Josh Pickering but Chris Holder struggled from gate 4 and couldn't pass Ben Cook. Dan Bewley won heat 4 ahead of Bomber and Antti again out paced DanG. Chris Holder became the first Tiger to take the flag in heat 5 with Brady second and Josh third. The Aces are 2 ahead on the night and lead by 14 on aggregate.

DanB held off Kyle to win heat 6 with Jack a poor third. Bomber sped from the inside to beat Jaimon in heat 7 but Jason ran last behind Ben Cook. DanG trapped from the inside to lead heat 8 with Kyle holding off Norick's attempted pass on the second turn. The 5-1 put the Tiers ahead for the first time. DanB wins heat 9 from Josh and Chris. Jack made the gate to lead heat 10 with Jaimon rounding Kyle into second. Ben high sides on the exit of turn 2 and takes a very nasty tumble. Tigers are now 6 ahead on the night, but the Aces lead by 6 on aggregate.

Bomber traps ahead of Brady and pulls well clear in heat 11 but Jason trails home last. Jaimon pops out of gate 3 to win heat 12 from Chris Holder but Antti hold DanG at bay to push the Aces aggregate lead to 8 points. Jack and Bomber face Brady and the unbeaten DanB in heat 13. Jack leads into the first bend but Brady pulls alongside exiting turn 2 and completes the pass entering turn 3. Bomber joins the battle but Brady holds onto the lead. Antti takes Ben's place on the inside gate in heat 14. The Tigers now require two 5-1's to force a super heat decider. Antti flies into the lead but Josh goes high and wide and passes him on the back straight. Josh now tries his best to slow the race to allow Jason to get on terms but Antti keeps the pressure on and gets the all important extra point which means the Aces are in the final. Josh and Bomber meet DanB and Jaimon in heat 15 and, wouldn't you know it, Chris powers high and wide around the Aces pair in the first two corners to join Josh in a consolation 5-1.

Analysis of starting gate positions:
Gate 1 - 31(+2)pts 7 wins. Gate 2 - 22(+1)pts 4 wins. Gate 3 - 23(+5)pts 3 wins. Gate 4 - 14(+2)pts 1 win.
