Controversy before the match. Max Fricke was injured in the Grand Prix series and Robert Lambert, ranked 5th in the world, was signed on a three year
old average as his replacement even though no transfers were supposed to be allowed given the deadline had passed. Indeed an additional regulation
was added to the rule book to reinforce this, but was somehow worded so badly it actually achieved the opposite.
Lewis makes a flying start to win heat 1 but Jack tries every which way but first Brady Kurtz gains advantage on the inside line, and Jack's efforts
out wide see Tom Brennan stealing third place. Norick Blödorn powered his way to win heat 2 but the Tigers reserves shared the heat. Heat 3 sees
Matej Zagar riding high and wide for the win ahead of Adam while Charles Wright has the legs of his old schoolmate Kyle to extend the Aces lead.
Connor off gate 1 and Jye off gate 2 tangle on their way to the first bend in heat 4. Jye struggles to dismount and takes a big knock. I'm sure Mark
Lemon tells him he can take the rest of the evening off as in-form Norick will be able to take all his remaining rides. Lambert powers his way to his
first win but Tobiasz and Connor outpace the in-form German replacement to share the heat.
Matej traps ahead in heat 5 and Jack splits Lewis and Charles exiting turn 2. Charles bales out and despite Jack being ahead and leaving racing
room finds himself excluded. Christina couldn't have seen from her box, but obviously wouldn't also watch the tv either. Charles passes Lewis
on the first lap to follow Matej home for a maximum heat win. Belle Vue, Robert Lambert and the referee lead by six points.
Tobiasz wins heat 6 by a mile. Brady rounds Justin who holds on to third from Tom to reduce the Aces lead. Lambert wins heat 7 at a canter from Adam
and Kyle tries every which way but Norick takes third place. Tom Brennan wins heat 8 from Lewis who just holds off Norick and the Aces,
Lambert & Turnbull extend their lead. Tobiasz traps in heat 9 and goes very wide opening a big lead. Charles in second tries to go even wider to make up
ground but sticks it into the fence on the fourth turn. Kurtz & Brennan from the start for a 5-1 over Kyle and Adam. Belle Vue, Lambert and Turnbull
lead by 10 points.
A sensational heat 11 sees Jack and Robert taking and retaking the lead while Lewis and Norick take and retake third spot. Robert gets the verdict on
the last lap while Lewis evens things up in third spot. Racing from Kelvin's "top drawer". The Tigers make the gate to lead heat 12 but Matej blasts
around Justin to take second place at the start of lap 3. The Aces trap ahead in heat 13 and Tobiasz gives chase but to no avail. Tigers trap in heat 14
but Norick rounds reserve substitute Justin out of turn 2. Justin retakes second out of the last bend and Kyle goes for the dirt line out very wide.
Justin does just enough to keep the exhausted German behind and the Tigers fight back with their first maximum heat win. Mark Lemon nominates Brady
and his illegal version of Max Fricke for heat 15. Simon chooses Adam and Tobiasz. Brady traps from the Sheffield lads but Rocket ship Robert blasts
along side down the back straight. Tobiasz powers wide into turn three but gets unexpected grip and is thrown at very high speed into the fence. Luckily he
is able to walk gingerly back to the pits. Lambert uses the wide outside to win heat 15 and he, Christina Turnbull and the rest of the Aces take a 12 point
lead to the second leg at Owlerton.
