The
Aces were without Cyril Maidment and promoted Jim Yacoby to the team with Dave
Schofield taking his place at reserve. Other promoters had spent the winter
months arguing that the Aces should release riders to enable other sides to
strengthen with Sandor Levai the main target and indeed Frank Varey was in a
major predicament and unable to name a full team. Already tracking Eric Boocock
as a guest replacement for the missing Clive Featherby and David Crane
who had both elected to join local track King's Lynn, we were also without Jack
Kitchen and called upon Australian Gordon Guasco as a last minute substitute.
