Belle Vue 1947 With a sold-out test match between England and Australia (the first for eight years!) taking place 'up the road' at Odsal the Belle Vue public were entertained by a local derby against lower division Sheffield. Already missing captain Jack Parker who was riding for the Lions they balanced the sides further by loaning the Tigers Eric Langton to deputize for their injured skipper Stan Williams.
