Simon didn't get his season off to a good start as he was left standing at the
tapes. Facundo in his first competitive race put Jason Doyle under pressure
for a couple of laps and then held off Ricky Ashworth to defend second place.
Damien was obviously over anxious and he ended up looping it at the start
of heat 2. Joe started poorly and looked slow in heat 3 and Richard passed
Josh before suffering engine problems. Ricky Wells led heat 4 from Ben,
Jake and Nicolas. Ben rounded Ricky on the third turn on the second lap,
and Nicolas picked off Jake on the second turn of lap 3. Jason led heat
5 from Richard until the Ricky Ashworth passed him wide on the pits turn.
Richard fought back reclaiming second place on the last lap. Brummies 14
points ahead and cruising.
Simon pushed Ben all the way in heat 6 and Danny took an easy win in
heat 7. Jason won heat 8 but Facundo and Nicolas had a great scrap for second
with Facundo passing the Argentinean champ on the second bend of lap 3 and
holding off a strong challenge on the last bend. Richard tried hard but
it was Ben who won heat 9. Simon passed Josh on the first lap of heat 10
but couldn't catch Danny while Facundo nearly rounded Josh but then ran
out of track and lost a lot of ground. Tigers now trail by 24 points. Will
we manage a race winner?
Ricky Ashworth exceeded the 2 mins and Martin led the way from Damien
in heat 11. Damien looked good ahead of Jason until he hit a rut on
the second turn and dropped to last. The Brummies took an easy win in heat
12 but the Tigers went better in heat 13 with Simon taking the lead from
Martin on the third turn, lap 2 and Ricky Wells passing Ben on the second
bend of lap 3. Richard and Josh had a great scrap with plenty of passing
in heat 14 and Damien showed a clean pair of heels to Nicolas. Richard looked
as if he had it sewn up when he picked up a puncture on the last lap! Simon
and Facundo were nominated against the Brummies reserves but this time it
was Facundo's bike playing up. With seconds ticking away he emerged from
the pits on Damien's bike and gave Martin a good run for second place.
