Mort and PC seemed to put their season long bike problems to one side tonight, but received scant support from the rest of the team. Les started well but failed to score in his last two rides and their only other heat win came from talented Finn Pekka Hautamaki in the reserves heat.

Doug Wyer inspired the Tigers with a faultless maximum but the Tigers only other winners were guest John Boulger in heat 8 and Reg Wilson in heat 9. So despite losing Keith Evans in a heat 5 pile-up and providing less than half the heat winners it was the Tiger's who left Hyde Road with both League points under their belts.

Tony Briggs won both his 2nd-half junior heat and the Junior final, while Doug Wyer was awarded a win in the senior final ahead of PC after junior Dean Zamen was excluded for bringing Nicky Allott down.
