Sheffield completed their season with a last heat win at struggling Ashfield, but were still adrift of Bristol who had matches in hand.
Young Len Williams was top scorer but it was a good team effort with the exception of Tommy Allott who failed to open his account.
Harringay's Vic Duggan was programmed to meet Ken le Breton in an interval match race but Wembley's Bill Kitchen was a last
minute stand-in. Home star Ken won 2-0 in the fastest times of the night but still more than a second outside his own track record.
Tommy Allott who failed to score in the match won his heat and qualified for the Tiger's Trophy Final which was won by Ken once again from
Bill Kitchen and Andy Menzies.
