Sheffield v King's Lynn, 1969 The Tigers opened their league campaign against a Stars team led by Malcolm Simmons and Terry Betts, and the strength of their side can be measured by ex-Owlerton favourite Clive Featherby being tracked at reserve. Jim Airey made his debut but a combination of borrowed equipment and nerves saw him failing to finish in his first two rides.
Fellow Aussie Guy Hawkes won the novices final from Dave Baugh and Stuart Jay, while Malcolm Simmons beat Larsson, Airey and Haley in the senior final.
