The Falcons have probably done just enough to knock us out of the KO Cup. Riding without Mark Simmonds who broke down en-route, and the injured Nick Simmons they should have been like lambs to the slaughter but the usually reliable Craig Watson let us down badly with a tape exclusion and and engine failure, Richard Hall stopped in one race, and Birko had a nightmare home debut following his reinstatement with two dropped chains and a fall. The fact that he nearly caught Craig Boyce on the line in heat 11 didn't seem to make him any happier, but perhaps he will just be even more determined when we visit the County Ground next week. (Fingers crossed!).

Andy Moore blasted past Craig Boyce on his way to winning heat 1, André made up yards around the outside of turn 3 in heat 4 to move from 3rd to 1st but Ben was so slow that even David Speight passed him with ease on the 3rd lap. Luckily for Ben he then made a slight error on the last turn and Ben was able to steal the point on the line. Richard Hall exited the 2nd bend ahead of Craig Boyce in heat 5 and Craig never got near enough to mount a challenge, and with Craig and Andy trapping to lead heat 6 Seemond Stephens was passed by Benji Compton at the back!.

Michael Coles passed Ben on the last trn of heat 8, and Roger Lobb became the Falcon's first heat winner in heat 12 with Richard Hall's machine expiring. Craig Watson chased Craig Boyce for a couple of laps in heat 13 until the gremlins struck again, and it looked as if André had too much ground to make up until he pulled off an awesome 3rd bend dive on the last lap which had the entire crowd shaking their heads in disbelief! Graeme Gordon made an electric start and rode the perfect line to spoil Ricky's maximum in heat 14 but the race of the night was still to come as early leader Craig Boyce was given the shock of his life in heat 15 as he was passed simultaneously by Andy on the outside, and André glued to the white line on the 3rd turn.

The re-jigged line up threw up some interesting races and on the whole I liked it. It puts a lot of pressure on Richard Hall, but he seemed up to it. Ben, sadly, is still three seconds off the pace and was even passed by David Speight tonight simply because he stuck to his comfortable line. He'll come into his own when the shale has gone and we revert to something more like a gaters paradise.

Somerset next, but I fear our unbeaten record is set to tumble. Please prove me wrong.
